CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY: Chapel of Christ Triumphant to start their semester with God’s Word

Zz

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY issued the following announcement on August 24.

Campus Pastor Steve Smith gave a nod to the classic Broadway hit, “The Music Man,” at the opening of his chapel message this morning, the first official day of undergraduate classes for the 2020-21 academic year.  While students’ classes on this first day were unilaterally delivered online (most classes later in the week will move to a socially distanced, in-person format), several students still showed up to the Chapel of Christ Triumphant to start their semester with God’s Word.

Smith’s message focused on the theme verse for this year: “God’s peace in a troubled world.” Inspired by John 16:33, the theme points to God’s solution for a world filled with the turmoil of sin.

“He [Jesus] promised the disciples peace even though in the next few minutes there would be turmoil,” Smith shared in his Chapel message. “He wasn’t talking about how to get away from trouble, but how to deal with it. … Jesus got himself into trouble for us. He became a bridge over troubled waters to connect us back to God.”
