Shorewood and Other Municipalities Recognize MLK Day

Halls

Village Of Shorewood issued the following announcement on Jan.13.

Next Monday, January 17, we all will honor and recognize Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His words and vision for a better world continue to inspire us. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. devoted his life to advancing equality, equity, social justice, opportunity, and challenging all people to participate in the never-ending work of building a more perfect union.

President McKaig signed a proclamation, which is also being recognized by other municipalities in the Milwaukee area, to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and recognizing January 17 as a day to reflect and a day for service. A special thank you to Bay Bridge and the Human Relations Commission for drafting and reviewing the proclamation language. For those of you who are searching for service opportunities and ways to engage for MLK Day, Bay Bridge has been working with several community partners to publish an events calendar to promote these service opportunities. We encourage Shorewood community members to consider these opportunities or any other service
